Derek was recently named the fourth funniest stand-up comedian in the Montreal Mirror’s “Best of” readers’ poll following an intense year of touring, a recent broadcast of a TV special he performed on and an appearance at last year’s Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. He was also named the number 7 Best Local Actor… one spot ahead of Donald Sutherland… well, we’re not sure about that but, look for his star to continue rising.

In 2007, he appeared at the CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival, The Global Vancouver comedy Festival, The Grand Rire du Québec Comedy Festival and the first ever Prince Edward island Comedy Festival… it was a festive year and he’s off to do the Halifax Festival in 2008 where he’ll be taping some shows for television.
Having wrapped roles in 4 films, 2 television commercials, 3 plays (Playing the lead in 2 of them) and some work in episodic television in the past 18 months or so, Derek is now focussing much of his energy on writing and further acting training.

The quintessential performer, Derek is a stand-up comedian, actor, host, narrator, voice actor and most importantly, father of 3 beautiful children… and all this, in both English and French… which often leaves his children wondering what the hell is going on.
