Hi everybody. In Barrie right now. Last night, I had the honour being the first headliner at the brand new Re-Openning of the Yuk Yuks in Barrie, Ontario. Cool stuff. Full house and alot of fun! 3 more shows over the next 2 days. Hope all you Barrionites come on out to revel.
Just finished some stressful writing deadlines too. Phew. What a load off my mind. Now I can start my afternoon drinking... yeh me!
Check in often as I'll be putting some video blogs on here soon and have a secret video project that will premiere here in the coming week.
Ok. Good talk everybody!

So, been a while since I blogged. Going to try to make it more regular then popularize it.
Sitting in my hotel room in Halifax watching my frind Al Rae's Comedy Now! Two shows tonight the finally home with my girl and wonderful kids. Can't wait to see them. It's Ande's (My 4 year old) birthday today. Feel bad that I'm missing it but we'll make up for it tomorrow.
Maritimes have been fun but terribly unproductive! So much sleep... rediculous. GOtta get back on the productivity train. THese jokes don'T write themselves... ok, they actually do but still...
I'm often bored so feel free to write with requests or whatever.

Hi there again. You know what? Blogging is hard. I forget all the time, am still not quite sure how all this technology works and simply said; when it comes time to start writing, I find myself with surprisingly little to actually say.
Hmmmmm. What do you make of that.
Well, here's some stuff that I've been up to lately:
Last week I did a show at a bar called Scotyz. It's a little place on the south shore of Montreal and is literally the closest bar to my house... so I was playing in my own neighborhood and that in itself proved a little stressful. I was nervous. My buddies Ali Hassan, Tim Rabnett and Mike Ward came along to play and the show, I think, was pretty solid. Only one bug was that I was hammered by the end and was out having a smoke when the show ended so Mike was left sorta standing there in an anticlimax... I was supposed to make announcements for the bar and everything and didn't get to do it... IDIOT! I hope they'll still have us back.
Coming up this week, I'm Emceeing an event in Cote st-luc to save the golf course there... and the greenspace that comes with it. It's called Meadowfest and it's my friend Dr. Rina Gupta who asked me to do it. Comedy and mass interaction outside in the middle of the day? Should be interesting.
After that I've gotta bolt (Surely with some shaky confidence) to do a show at a charity basketball tournament. The event is taking place at the Mayor of St-Lambert's house! That's right! I'm performing for royalty! Well, Mayoralty anyway! That should be fun and will certainly be a chance at exposure to many of Montreal's movers and shakers. Cross your fingers for me.
Next week, I'm supposed to be heading up to Barrie, Ontario to play the Yuks there and because my friends Anneka and Andrew live up there, I'm gonna haul the kids along with me. THat, provided I don't land either of the 2 auditions I have coming up over the next two days... cause if I do, they shoot that weekend... but don't tell YukYuks that I might have to bail. ;) Just kidding Yuk Yuks. I never get these parts.
On another exciting note, Just for Laughs is considering a TV pitch we (the bastards) have made. It would be like a one hour Rockumentary in its format... I think anyway.
I'll keep you posted.
K, my wrists hurt. I'll save some for next time.
Love,

Well; it's been a long time coming but I finally have my new Web site up and running! I still have a lot of content to input but I've got the basics here. I'll be trying to get more video up and really want to try and figure out how to scan and put in press coverage, as well as getting letters of recomendation in here for those corporate peops that like that sort of thing... but the fact is, I'm interactive now.
Never been much of a blogger so I'll really have to kick myself in the ass to do this regularly. I do enjoy a good blog. My buddy Steve Patterson has a great one. Check it out if you like.
I guess I can talk a bit about what's going on in my career? On the acting side, things are DEAD here in Montreal. Did a couple Brault and Martineau commercials a few months ago and have a part in Death Race coming out this week but haven't done anything new in months... dying over here. Started an acting class though so I'll be ready when the floodgates open if ever.
THanks goodness for Standup though, hey? It's been paying the bills for a while. Just for laughs went great and the French COmedy Bastards was super-well recieved. My buddies Mike Ward and Max martin are new pals but we worked really well together and are thinking about touring the show that was ahuge success at this years fest... and I'll be honest, I'm trying to get bigger on the French side and aligning myself with these two franco superstars can't hurt me.
For now, that's all I've got... gotta fill this bitch up and then maybe I'll have more to talk about. Gonna call Mike W. and ask him how he does his video blogs... seems much easier and more entertaining than writing this stuff...
Please let me know if you have any ideas or feedback about the site or my career, for that matter. And sign up for the mailing list... I'll send neat shit when I find it.
Much love,
Derek |
